Why is this course right for you?

This short course delves into how the business context drives reward strategies and policies, including labour market and sector trends; regional and international differences in pay; and the financial drivers of the organisation.

You'll gain a theoretical and strategic understanding of the principles of reward, then learn to implement them in practice, gather and evaluate reward data, and advise organisations on the impact of reward on business viability and employee performance.

The course consists of one module from the CIPD Level 5 Diploma taken as a standalone qualification.

Entry requirements

To study this CIPD Intermediate Level 5 course, you should generally have at least one of the following:

  • Some HR experience in an entry-level HR role
  • Managerial experience that involved elements of HR
  • A degree and a desire to begin studying HR at a higher level than Foundation Level 3

If English is your second language, we recommend you have an IELTS 6.5/ESOL Level 2 or equivalent, but we're happy to review your case on an individual basis.

 

Course content

Your course and assignment are fully online.

You'll learn to:

  • Understand the business context of reward and the use of reward intelligence
  • Understand the key perspectives that inform reward decision-making
  • Understand key reward principles, policies and practices
  • Understand the role of line managers in promoting a performance culture, in reward decision-making and in driving sustained organisation performance

If you'd like to study a broader range of topics and prepare for managerial HR roles, we recommend the comprehensive Level 5 Diploma or mid-length Level 5 Certificate.

Please note that where the course discusses legislation and policy, this will be based on UK law.

 

Qualification

On completion of this course, you'll achieve a CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Award in Human Resources, and your certificate from CIPD will reflect this.

The subject you studied will be specified on your attached transcript.

Please note that this Award won't qualify you for CIPD associate membership.
